In 1842, Alexander Dabell, the founder of the Blackgang Chine fantasy park, was overwhelmed at the natural beauty of the chine gorge and clifftop landscape, and decided to create gardens there, that would attract the romantic Victorians. |

Later on in
the same year, it became known that a huge fin whale had been stranded
off the coast of the Needles, and that is what became one of the focal
and first attractions at the chine. After constructing a specially-built
display warehouse for the whale skeleton, he also opened a small gift
bazaar, and that is what started off the Blackgang Chine park that we
visit today. Over the years various odd and eccentric attractions have been added, allowing more and more people to visit and revisit over the years. Visiting the Blackgang Chine Fantasy Park is a special childhood memory for many - hundreds of adults will remember taking a trip there in their youth, and children will certainly reminisce about their tours around the park in the future. |

website, although not connected with the park's own website, allows you
to visit the park and its attractions again. It may bring back special
memories, or perhaps you've never visited and want to find out what
you've been missing. So have fun whilst looking around, and please visit the park yourselves - you won't get the full Blackgang experience until you actually visit the chine in person!

hand, this website is reminiscent of the special eccentricity and
fantasy-themes of the park, something that other theme parks fail to

We even have some that aren't available online - if you can't find what you'd like, send us a request anyway - we might have what you want! |
