Halloween Experience: Realm of the Undead   For 2014, the Halloween Experience received a big tenth anniversary makeover. This time our intrepid visitors would encounter a haunted garden infested by zombies! Our undead occupants gave many a fright as they carried out bizarre electrocutions and emerged from smoking barrels of toxic waste.

The weather was very kind to us again, allowing us to entertain and spook loads of visitors!

I wanted to create something almost entirely different for the 2014 show, so I settled on the idea of a big zombie infestation. And it was absolutely fantastic! We had new music and sounds, some brilliant full-size animated zombie figures and props, as well as some excellent shock effects that made lots of visitors jump! The scariest show so far I think!

This animated display was inspired by Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back, a popular dark ride at Alton Towers. Much of the music and sounds were borrowed from this attraction; some elements were also influenced by the zombie figures and theming, which was introduced when the ride, first installed in 1992, was refreshed in 2003.

This show featured ten figures, including a host of zombies; popping out from barrels, pouring toxic waste, electrocuting skeletons and appearing in ghostly form at the back of the garden, by means of a Pepper's ghost illusion!
